Angel’s Landing Ethereal Embrace of Deity- Zion's National Park

“The hike is called Angel’s Landing. It is a special hike – one of the most difficult and dangerous day hikes in Zion. We have hiked that trail for years. Switch backs for miles in desert sun cut into rock canyon steeply build into a narrow rock bridge that climbs onto a cliff which overlooks the entire Zion’s park. My grandpa used it as a way to find out how old he was: each year he would hike it and if he made it to the top, he was still a young man. He was a young man well into his 80s. Getting to the top of that hike, you get the glorious feeling of being minusculey tiny and yet so loved, privileged, and important that God would grant you witness to this ancient space. Your soul enlarges and the obvious beauty of the red rock glows around you. Body cleansed by scorching sun and nearly stripped away from the grueling hike, you stand at the top. In a breeze. Spirit to spirit with heaven’s hosts.
That is the reward, the reason hundreds of people travel across the earth to crawl up burning cliffs to this spot: to feel that ethereal embrace of Deity.

It is worth it.”-   Ofa Fotu
