One of the Student founders of Social Venture Academy (SVA) supporting the Social Venture Competition.

About:

The SVA works with student entrepreneurs to help build socially-minded businesses, connecting them with the resources and knowledge they need to turn their ideas into reality.

Student teams are mentored through three phases: idea validation, product development, and launch. We hold pitching events for each phase—the Best Idea, Best Product, and Best Venture competitions—where ventures are awarded funding. Teams are not competing against each other to receive this financing; all ventures that demonstrate high potential can receive funding in each phase.

Winning Social ventures could receive potential seed funding awards of $18,000 and a chance to pitch to large funders.

My work with the founding of SVA:

  • Designed logo, branding, and marketing plan for the Social Venture Academy and Competition
  • Helped support, design, and test curriculum
  • Supervised 10 graduate student volunteers, interview and hired replacement, for marketing and recruitment for the Social Venture Academy and Competition for Ballard Center
  • Directed 10 volunteers over 2 years to implement advertising and marketing strategies for BYU’s Social Venture Academy and Competition
